RADT 1300 – MID-TERM PROJECT
Report Format
• 5-page report: pages 1-4: One section (exam category) per page; page 5: References
• First page: Name and submission date.
• First page: Center, capitalize, underline & bold the title: RADIOGRAPHIC EXAMINATION
• Bold and underline the heading for each specific category. (Ex. Spine or Upper Extremity)
• Content information should be in complete sentences in one or two paragraphs.
• Add image(s) below the paragraph(s) and label all image(s).
• Below each image: Write “Image(s) retrieved from:” and then add the URL for each image.
• Do not use images from the textbook or course Power Points. DO not use CT or MRI images!
• Save and name file format: Initial of first name, Last name, MT project. (Ex.: ttorresMTproject)
• Do not plagiarize! In-text citations are required when using direct quotes or technical terms
or language you would not normally use.

▪ Sections A, B and C: Use the course textbook to find the information for items 1, 2, 3 and 4.
▪ Sections A, B and C: Use instructor resource or select an online resource for items 5.
▪ Section D: Use the website of a healthcare facility to find information for the items listed.
Images
o Find online images that match the positions and procedures selected.

o Include two (2) images for sections A, B and C. Each image must be a different position.
o Include one image for section D.
o Label each image with the name of the specific position or procedure
o Include the URL as a hyperlink from the actual website address. (Not the search engine)

RADT 1300 – MID-TERM PROJECT
Use the Types of Radiology Examinations in Chapter 8, Radiographic Examinations of the
textbook to complete the Mid-Term Project.
Instructions – Create a report on routine radiology examinations. Select one (1) exam from each
of the four (4) exam categories below. Find the information listed below each category and
submit the information in 1-2 paragraphs. See PAWS for an example report
A. Select one routine exam of the Spine and provide the following in 1-2 paragraphs:
1. Name of the examination/procedure stated in the first sentence.
2. Three (3) reasons the exam is performed.
3. The number of images normally taken.
4. Specific names of two (2) of the projections/positions normally taken.
5. Patient position during the exam: (Lying on table; sitting in chair, etc.)

▪ Label the image with the name of each specific position.

B. Select one Routine exam of the Upper Extremities (except Thumb or Finger) and provide the
following in 1-2 paragraphs:
1. Name of the examination/procedure stated in the first sentence.
2. Three (3) reasons the exam is performed.
3. The number of images normally taken.
4. Specific names of two (2) of the projections/positions normally taken.
5. Patient position during the exam: (Lying on table; sitting in chair, etc.)

C. Select one Routine exam of the Lower Extremities (except Toe) and provide the following in
1-2 paragraphs:
1. Name of the examination/procedure stated in the first sentence.
2. Three (3) reasons the exam is performed.
3. The number of images normally taken.
4. Specific names of two (2) of the projections/positions normally taken.
5. Patient position during the exam: (Lying on table; sitting in chair, etc.)

D. Select one Fluoroscopic Procedure of the Digestive System (except Small Bowel Series).
Conduct a web search of a healthcare facility and find their online instructions for the procedure
selected. Provide the following information in 1 -2 paragraphs:
1. Include the name of the healthcare facility in the first or second sentence.
2. Name of the examination/procedure stated in the first sentence or second sentence.
3. Three (3) reasons the exam is performed.
4. Explain the pre-exam instructions: Fasting, bowel preparation, medications, etc.
5. Explain the procedure by explaining the following items
a. Clothing/jewelry or other items to be removed
b. Type of contrast and how given: ingest orally (drink) or inserted through a rectal catheter
c. What the patient will have to do during the exam (drink, stand, lie down, etc.)
d. How long the procedure takes
e. Post exam instructions
